Although Steve Stricker has played well for several weeks, and gave another strong showing at the Open, he dropped to 11th on the money list. Sergio Garcia's runner-up finish saw him make his first appearance this year in the top-10 on the money list.
Garcia is on the cusp of winning a major. He simply has to take some time to recover from the heartbreaking loss and gain a bit of maturity. Put those things with amazing talent and he's a force to be reckoned with for many years. He has all the confidence he needs, which is integral to getting to and staying at the top.
Jim Furyk will try to defend his title with more solid play at the Canadian Open this week. Last year, Bart Bryant came one shot shy of Furyk, and Sean O'Hair just one shot behind Bryant. Mike Weir, who has been exhibiting some good play lately, will try to unseat Furyk. Vijay Singh, John Daly, Chris DiMarco, Justin Leonard, Camilo Villegas and several headliners will make the trip north. Past winners in the field include Mark Calcavecchia, Singh, and John Rollins.
The Canadian Open is quite historic and includes such champions as Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Greg Norman, Lee Trevino, Arnold Palmer, Byron Nelson and Sam Snead, to name but a few.
