Martin Kaymer posts back to back wins in The Race To Dubai following his French Open triumph with victory in Loch Lomond in The Scottish Open 2009.

The week before The British Open sees The European Tour head to Loch Lomond Golf Course in Scotland for The Barclays Scottish Open. The course is not a traditional Links course so is not necessarily great preparation for the third major of the year from Turnberry. The Par 71 course is beautifully located and prepared and the weather is set fair and framing the course in all its glory for Graeme McDowell to defend his title.

Good scores are available on Day One, the weather staying fair for both sides of the draw. Australian Adam Scott takes advantage with a 66 that is bettered by Graeme Storm of England, Paul McGinley of Ireland, Scotland’s Martin Laird and Castano Fernandez of Spain with 65’s. Australia’s Richard Green leads after Day One with 64.

Only one of these players break 70 in Round Two. Martin Laird looked like he would until dropping two shots on holes 14 and 15 and ends the day at -7 after a 70. It is Adam Scott who manages to follow one good round with another posting a 67. Denmark’s Soren Hansen has only dropped one shot in two rounds and he finishes on -7.

Retief Goosen Two-time US Open Winner

Fellow Dane Soren Kjeldsen has set the foundations for another successful week entering the weekend at -7. It is two class players that produce the best today. Last weeks French Open winner, Germany’s Martin Kaymer produces an ominous 65 to finish at -8 and Retief Goosen, two time US Open winner, from South Africa takes the course apart with a brilliant 63 to lead at -11.

Lee Westwood takes advantage of moving day shooting 64 to finish at -10. His round yesterday could have been even better if his putter behaved like it did today. Castano Fernandez is making hay and if he could putt as well from five feet as he does from 25 his superb 64 could have been better.

Adam Scott's Poor Form

Castano Fernandez goes into Sunday on -14 with a one shot lead over Goosen who posts another consistent 69 and Kaymer with 66. Adam Scott slips back today after a two over par 73. Welshman Jamie Donaldson and American Brian Gay makes big moves after 65’s. The tournaments big guns are congregating for a Sunday shoot-out.

Goosen starts well, -1 for the first six holes, and then, seemingly from nowhere, he is unable to hole a putt and drops six shots in the next five holes. He rallies later in the round but this effectively ends his challenge. Martin Kaymer birdies the seventh to take a two shot lead.

Nick Watney from USA AND England’s Ross Fisher fire 67’s to gatecrash the top ten. Lee Westwood’s big challenge does not materialise but he finishes in the top ten again, a significant achievement considering he nearly quit the tournament after no sleep on Thursday night due to a bad chest.

Martin Kaymer's Back-to-Back European Tour Wins

Leading overnight, Gonzalo Castano makes a +1 72, and finishes on -13, one shot ahead of Soren Kjeldsen, 70 and Adam Scott, 66 who finish joint fourth. Momentum surge of the day comes from Frenchman Raphael Jacquelin with a 66 that takes him to tie second with the perpetual bridesmaid Gonzo who posts his fourth runners up spot of the season. The imperious Martin Kaymer makes it back to back PGA European tour wins with a 69 to win by two shots on -15 and having earned over £1,000,000.00 in prize money in the last two tournaments.
